Brain Injuries Go Undetected

Comments Off

New York injury lawyer Michael Kaplan reported in his blog last week on a new study from the Army that up to 20 percent of the troops returning from combat have undiagnosed brain injuries. As a result, the Army is alerting returning troops about the symptoms of brain injury and encouraging those with symptoms to get treatment.

But undiagnosed brain injuries are not unique to the Army. According to the Center for Disease Control, 20% of the brain injuries are caused by auto accidents. Unfortunately, many of these injured are not diagnosed and do not receive necessary treatment. Like the returning troops, if you or a loved one have been in a wreck, you should become familiar with the signs and symptoms of brain injury, and if you exhibit any of the symptoms, please seek a diagnoses or treatment from your physician.
