Tom Lamb over at drug-injury.com examines the recent decision by Bristol-Myers Squibb to stop making the antibiotic Tequin. On Monday the consumer watchdog group Public Citizen petitioned the FDA to ban the drug that has been linked to 20 deaths and severe cases of hyper and hypoglycemia, noting that there are many safer alternatives to treat the conditions for which tequin is primarily prescribed (the list includes bronchitis, pneumonia and urinary tract infection).
